Blogging is one way to work from home to make either a little extra cash, or even as your main income.

Firstly, you need to choose your topic.  This is a key part of creating a blog.   If it’s a topic that on one is interested in or a topic that has far too much Internet exposure, it really isn’t going to work.  Also, if it doesn’t interest you then it won’t become a personal bit of webspace that makes money, it’ll be a money making corporate site that won’t have appeal to true fans of that particular interest.

If the topic you want to focus on does have a bit of web presence, then try a different angle.  Look at your competitors and see what they’re missing out on.  If you ran their site, what would you add? What do you want to read about? Try and stand out.

Work from home blogs are straight forward to set up.  Choose a site like Blogspot, there are many out there.  Those are easy to use free options.  You can spend money on your own domain and hosting, just as I have.  It’s also easy as most hosting companies now give very straight forward step by step instructions.

Once its set up, just write away.  Keep it informative, engaging and if possible, timeless.  Get involved in your online community and find other blogs that have a similar theme to interact with.  You’ll soon pick up a decent following of users that come back to your site.

Look at your bookmarks.  I bet you have a few sites that you visit that are either someones blog or even a site that started out as a blog and grew to a huge Internet business.

Remember you don’t have to run just the one blog at once, running several will ensure you capture a wide number of viewers.
