Can you trust online paid surveys?

Surveys that pay for your services have been around a long time.  Paid surveys and market research have been around since the 1920’s.  The Internet has enabled legitimate surveys to reach the masses.

This has paved the way for several sites advertising easy money from your sofa.  These are often exaggerated or just a flat out scam site.

Adding a membership fee is one particular favourite.  If you joined these sites you would see they all offer a VERY similar list of paid surveys.  Often those surveys themselves will require a membership fee, to which the initial scam site will earn a referral fee.

It is possible to earn a living from paid surveys as long as you choose carefully.  Most offer only a token form of payment which you will either never see or will not be worth your time.  Some sites are nothing other than a pyramid scheme.  To limit your income, you will usually be required to fit a particular demographic which is fair enough.

Some sites are there purely to capture your personal info and sell it on.  Companies doing this will earn a small fortune and open the doors for all kinds of unsolicited mail and phone calls.

It’s not all negativity.  Some sites do pay well.  Maybe not enough for an early retirement but you can make a good amount of spending money or discounted goods.
